All Great Guys Go To Heaven !!

I've been in many situation over the years where I'll hear someone say concerning ones passing that, "They are in a better place now." I have yet to go to a funeral and heard someone say to the grieving wife something like,"Hey, I knew your husband for many years. He was truly a despicable man and I'm sure he is in hell right now, suffering and being tormented for eternity just like he deserves after the way he treated you and your children."
What we have is this ridiculous idea that Heaven would not quite be the same without us and that we deserve to be there, and surely one day we will be in God''s presence.
Unfortunately, that's simply not the case. Yet, we don't want to hear about this. We want to hear the feel good message. We want to hear about God's Grace, his Mercy and his Love.  W certainly don't need to hear about repentance, we don't want to hear about the narrow gate. We don't feel that we need to change a single thing about the way we are living. After all, I'm a great guy, and everyone knows all great guys get to go to heaven What folly is this!!
I'd like to add that, I am guilty of all of the above." I spent many years in revelry.I spent many years doing exactly what I wanted to do, in exact opposition to God's word. Sinning was easy. I remember laughing hysterically one day when I saw a bumper sticker that said, "Real men love Jesus."
Today, I feel quite differently about this Jesus of the Bible. I find myself troubled when I look at the world around me. When I see people openly practicing what is in direct opposition to God's word.
I'm convinced everyone knows what their sin is. Yet they'll say something like, "I'm not that bad.
Look at Joe over there. Now there's a person who really needs to change his ways." The bottom line is this,"Anything that interferes with your personal relationship with God needs to be changed."

My prayer this week:

Lord I recognize that I am a sinner. I recognize that the only way that I am to be saved is through your blood which you spilled on Calvary. Lord, thank you for revealing yourself through your written word. Thank you for branding your word on my heart. Jesus you are my Lord and Saviour. I pray Lord that as I move through my day, I will continue to sing praise to your name. Lord allow me to nake a positive difference in someones life today. Put me in a position today Lord, to testify to the wonders of your Grace annd Mercy to someone who has yet to come into relationship with you.
Amen

Nice post, David.
The issue is the pride of man. People think they are good people, the Gospel shatters this idea, and is ultra offensive. If you are not offending people by the message of the Gospel then you are not preaching a true Gospel. How many times have I heard, well if you could just share the Gospel nicely with this person... the problem is that telling someone they're wicked and need to repent and turn to Christ is always offensive. Why did they kill Stephen in Acts 7? Why was Jesus rejected by the Jewish people? Why was Paul beat everywhere that he went? Because they all told people the truth of the Gospel.

Galatians 5:11
11 And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased.
