I was at a Baseball Game the other night with a group of friends. I try to go to one or two games a year, where I have no association with the team. It's not like I'm a big sports fan, it's just something different to do. In fact I enjoy watching the spectators as much as I enjoy watching the sporting event.
On the way into the game this small group was giving away water bottles. I though this was unusual. so I stopped to get a water and I took a business card off of their table. Sure enough, it was a local Church group giving away water at the Ball Game.
I remember thinking this was a little unusual. Then I heard the music in the background and realized I was listening to Christian music over the loud speakers. My wife and I both got excited! What made this particular game interesting was that the sponsor of the game that day happened to be the Local Christian Radio Station. Now I didn't know this in advance, I just happened to go to the game on that particular night.
I'm convinced watching the Game is just as much fun as watching the people. Naturally, I didn't realize that I was in for another lesson.
Watching and looking around the stadium I asked myself the question, " I wonder how many of these people know Jesus as their Lord and Savior?" I quickly went back to watching the game, as it was just a passing thought. Then of course it wasn't long before I started to think about this question again. I asked one of my friends sitting next to me that same question.
Then I thought about how the Angels like spectators, must rejoice every time someone slides into home base or hits a home run. I'm sure the Angels also rejoice when you hit a base hit, just as loudly as when you hit home run.
It just so happens that life often appears to be the same way. You have the days that you feel are just base hits. You have the days that are home runs. You have the days that you feel like you get tagged out.
So with all that said," We all have Funky Days." The difference is with Jesus active in our lives we also have hope. So I am again reminded of the Psalmist who penned the words....
"I put my hope in nothing less than Jesus Christ and Righteousness."
My prayer today is: Lord Jesus thank you for who you are and what it is you have done for me. Thank you for opening my eyes to the truth contained in your word. For revealing your truth to me. Lord do not allow me to become distracted by the things of this world, that I fail to keep my eyes focused on you. For you alone God are the only Holy and Sovreignn Lord. Amen.
