This last several weeks have been quite interesting. Difficult might be a better word. I often ask myself if I'm doing the right thing. Am I making a positive difference in the decisions I have to make. We are all confronted with these decisions. Some are very difficult decisions, others we've made so many times that we don't even think about them.
Sometimes things just seem to go so wrong, that I'm afraid to make a decision at all. Then of course the last thing I want to do is look at myself and say something like, "I was wrong, or forgive me for not being more sensitive to your needs."
At times when I look around I often wonder why things happen the way they do. The same questions keep being asked, "Why is their starvation." Why would God allow 9/11 to happen? Why would someone kill their family members? I get asked these questions regularly, usually by folks who question whether God really exists.
I also shake my head in wonderment when I hear or read these things and then I'm reminded of that these things happen because of sin. Yes sin. It really is that simple. Man is so predisposed, to self that he will do anything to please himself . By the way, "I'm guilty of this also." So the question I've asked myself many times is, "What can I do about this." Is there anything that I can do too change this sin condition?
The Prince of this Earth has come up with several ways for us to justify our sin nature. I'm sure you have heard the following phrases. (1) Live and let Live. (2) To each their own. (3) What will be, will be. (4) Everything I need to know, I learned in Kindergarten. The list goes on. Lots of little meaningless phrases or quips that justify our own behaviors. Ridiculous.
I am so thrilled that Jesus has put everything we need to know in one book. The Bible. If you really want to know what you should be doing, "This is the go to Book." I was reminded of that this last week. I was talking to an old friend who I love dearly and he said to me, " I'm as about as close to being a Christian as you can be without being one." Interesting I thought. So is being close, good enough? Unfortunately, according to scripture it is not. In (Job 10:8) We have God asking Job a question. The question is, "Would you annul My judgement? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified." Yes we want to live our lives as though God does not exist. We want to ignore him because of our own sin. We look at what is going on in the World and want to blame God. We want to Judge God to justify our own behaviors. Lord Forgive me.
My prayer this week:
Lord allow me to continue to seek after you. As it says in your word, You are the way, the truth and the light. As much as it may hurt, continue to do divine surgery. Removing greed, dishonesty, pride, hatred and selfish ambition from my heart. Allow me Lord to be a bright light in the darkness of this world I live in. I recognize Lord that I am a sinner. Thank you for saving me from myself. It is my intention to share you with those I come into contact with who do not know you. Thank you for allowing me to be your servant. I will sing of your Gory and Praises all the day long,
